    Description

Here for sale is a sweet small size 19th century finger lamp. Simply made from tin pieces soldered together. Has a nice small finger ring, or handle, for easy carrying. Nice flat bottom and decorative fluted pie crust edge around the top . Has the original wick still inside. Measures 3 7/8 inches tall excluding the wick, and it is 2 3/4 inches across the bottom. Nice condition with honest patina and minor rusting from age and use. The whole wick cap can be lifted off for refilling, and there is still a long wick stuffed inside.
I think these lamps were sometimes referred to as “ go to bed lamps “ , ( or something like that ), as they held enough oil to burn just long enough to get ready for bed or fall asleep. A neat little tin item. Dates 1830-1850s.
