A VERY FINE PRIMITIVE 19TH CENTURY SMALL SIZED "LIFT TOP" STORAGE CHEST OR BOX, PROBABLY NEW ENGLAND, CIRCA 1820-1840 IN ITS ORIGINAL GRUNGY CRANBERRY RED PAINTED SURFACE WITH THE BEST PATINA IN POPLAR AND PINE.
A WONDERFUL SMALL SIZE STORAGE BOX IN FANTASTIC GRUNGY ORIGINAL CRANBERRY RED PAINTED SURFACE.
IT HAS A SIMPLE PLANK LIFT TOP LID WITH ITS ORIGINAL LEATHER HINGES STILL PRESENT (the are broken) AND SOME LATER 19TH CENTURY IRON HINGES ADDED.
Grungy original CRANBERRY RED paint with wonderful patina.
It has a wonderful old mouse hole on the upper left side, (see photos).
WONDERFUL SMALL SIZE.
The CHEST is only 16 1/2" wide and 12 1/4" deep, 10 1/2" tall.
It exhibits the typical wear and tear to the surface you would expect from nearly 200 years of use as I have shown in the photos.
