AN EXTREMELY RARE EARLY 19TH CENTURY MINIATURE
OIL PORTRAIT PAINTING OF A BEAUTIFUL YOUNG WOMAN WITH A FANCY BLUE DRESS AND A CORAL NECKLACE. SHE IS SITTING IN A CHAIR WITH A FANCY COLORED SHAWL.
OIL ON PAPER STILL IN ITS ORIGINAL FANCY PLASTER ON WOOD GOLD GILDED FRAME.
IDENTIFIED ON THE BACK IN THE ORIGINAL PAPER LABEL, (SEE PHOTOS).
THE LABEL IS HAND PRINTED, IT STATES THAT THIS IS "THE LIKENESS OF MRS.. ELISABETH COWELL, PAINTED IN THE YEAR 1822 AT THE AGE OF 36"
BORN 25 DECEMBER 1786
MARR(IED) 14 JUNE 1806
DIED 13 FEB 1825"
ALSO IN A LATER SCRIPT ABOVE ARE THE WORDS, "This portrait is bequeathed to (unable to make out the rest).

WE DID NOT SEE AN ARTIST SIGNATURE.
THE LAST COLLECTOR CUT THE PAPER LABEL ON THREE SIDES TO BE ABLE TO FOLD IT OPEN TO VIEW THE BACKSIDE, (SEE PHOTOS).
PROBABLY NEW ENGLAND, CIRCA 1822, IN ITS ORIGINAL GOLD GILDED PLASTER ON WOOD MOLDED FRAME.
A fantastic portrait in vivid colors.
It is of the finest quality, certainly by a very accomplished artist.
The colors and attention to detail are the very best.
NO SIGNATURE PRESENT.
There is no visible damages.
THIS PAINTING IS MUCH BETTER IN PERSON.
No rips or tears.
A fantastic piece that needs further research.
We did not remove the piece from the frame.
Frame is 9" by 8" and the sight size is 4" by 3".
Typical wear and imperfections with age.
