    Description

    Estate fresh antique hand carved cardinal with wire legs.  Done by CK Reed, taxidermist,
    , ornithologist, naturalist, artist, and writer and editor of books on nature.  Mr Reed gave up taxidermy after turn of century.  If you do a search Chester A Reed is at the top of page. Son illustrated books for him.  Scroll past illustrations and CK information is there.  Piece is nowhere near pristine, I advise you to study all photos.  Tip of birds beak is off, the stuff he used on base is almost gone and brittle. Bought at estate of mid west collector.  Please take advantage of zoom or enlarge feature and study all photos thoroughly. Approx 13" long X  X 17" tall.  Wood base is 8 3/4" X 8 1/4".  Very old, gorgeous, piece of Americana.
