    Description

For your consideration is a superb late 18th century French straining ladle. I am not entirely sure what timber was used to carve this hand hewn ladle; possibly fruitwood or sycamore which are common to the French region. This beautiful ladle is utilitarian in use for the kitchen. Probably used for straining cherries, olives and prunes. Has an old repair attaching handle to spoon made out of wood or bark with tiny steel nails. Measures 13" x 5-3/4". Please view images for further details. Thank you for looking.
