    AN EXTREMELY RARE 19TH CENTURY MINIATURE SALESMAN'S SAMPLE OF A PENNSYLVANIA TWO DOOR STEPBACK CUPBOARD WITH SOLID PLANK DOORS ALL ON A SCROLLED CUT OUT BRACKET BASE.
    POPLAR AND PINE.
    PENNSYLVANIA, CIRCA 1830-1840.
    A FANTASTIC PIECE WITH GREAT CONSTRUCTION DETAIL.
    IT RETAINS ITS ORIGINAL BRASS HINGES AND KNOBS AND THE TOP APPLIED MOLDING IS ALL ORIGINAL.
    THE BASE HAS A FINE SCROLLED DESIGN ON THE SIDES AND THE FRONT.
    ALL SQUARE HEAD NAILS THROUGHOUT.
    WE BELIEVE THIS A SALESMAN SAMPLE.
    It was common in the 19th century for furniture makers to take samples of their furniture; chairs, boxes and tables out to the general public where they would take orders for their wares. We believe that this cupboard is one such piece. It is in wonderful condition and probably would not be in this condition if it was made as a child's toy.
    Also, the manner of construction and extreme attention to detail further point to it being a sample piece.
    THIS RARE PIECE IS MADE WITH THE APPROPRIATE DIMENSIONS AND PROPORTIONS OF THE FULL SIZE PIECE.
