    ABOUT TWO YEARS AGO WE PURCHASED A COLLECTION OF THESE VERY EARLY PEWTER CANDLESTICKS. SINCE THEN WE HAVE NOT SEEN ANY OTHER EXAMPLES THAT WERE NOT DAMAGED OR RESTORED.
    WE WERE FINALLY ABLE TO FIND ANOTHER SMALL COLLECTION. ALL OF THESE STICKS ARE IN EXTREMELY FINE CONDITION AND ALL ARE IN OLD SURFACES.
    THIS IS THE THIRD EXAMPLE FROM THE COLLECTION. IT IS PHOTOGRAPHED NEXT TO ONE OF THE SMALLER EXAMPLES WE SOLD THE LAST TWO WEEKS.
    (ONLY THE LARGE STICK IS FOR SALE).
    THIS STICK IS ONE OF THE NICEST AND LARGEST OF THIS FORM YOU WILL EVER SEE.
    ALSO, IT IS NEAR PERFECT IN CONDITION AND HAS THE BEST OLD GRUNGY AND DARK SURFACE.
    AN EXTREMELY RARE LATE 17TH CENTURY SPANISH OR PORTUGUESE BULBOUS SHAPED "PEWTER" CAPSTAN CANDLESTICK IN NEAR PERFECT CONDITION AND OLD COLOR IN A VERY RARE LARGE SIZE.
    SPANISH OR PORTUGUESE, CIRCA 1680-1700 IN WONDERFUL ORIGINAL CONDITION WITH NO REPAIRS, ADDITIONS OR ALTERATIONS AND IN A GREAT OLD GRUNGY AND DARK SURFACE.
    THESE VERY RARE CANDLESTICKS RARELY COME ONTO THE MARKET. WE SEE THE MORE COMMON BRASS EXAMPLES BUT THE PEWTER EXAMPLES DID NOT SURVIVE. MANY WERE MELTED DOWN IN THE 18TH CENTURY TO MAKE NEWER PEWTER PIECES.
    This is THE ABSOLUTE BEST 17TH CENTURY stick and would make a great addition to any early collection.
    Made in the typical 17th Century manner the underneath color is absolutely untouched with the cast marks still present.
    The condition is WONDERFUL, just the minor dings and surface abrasions you would expect from over 300 years of use.
    It is still tight.
    THERE ARE NO REPAIRS OR RESTORATIONS. IT ALSO DOES NOT HAVE THE old denting and bruising we USUALLY see in these early pewter examples.
    7 1/2" tall and the base flares to 5" across.
