    Description

    Offered in this 7-day auction is a c.1770-1810 Gentleman's or Officer's Clothes Brush.  Well turned wood with sharp designs, the brush is in good overall condition.  The horsehair bristles are clean and in good shape overall with some bristle sections having been trimmed down over the years (to keep the brush tight and rid it of errant or misplaced bristles).  There is a nice reference for these in George C. Neumann's, Early American Antique Country Furnishings, page 326.
